SCN has compiled a list of selected web portals for member use and information. These links will allow the member organization to obtain valuable information regarding security, vulnerability assessments and other related resources. Visit these sites for general and critical infomation on preventing, detecting and responding to malicious incidents including terrorist attacks, as well as protecting buildings and the people who occupy them.

Also, time-sensitive alerts from the government about terrorist threats and warnings potentially affecting the Jewish community are archived on this website.

DHS Threat Advisory System Resources

The Threat Advisory System Response Guideline is a tool designed to help businesses become aware of, prepare for and respond to changes in Alert Levels announced by the Department of Homeland Security. It is intended to guide readers into developing appropriate actions to be taken when threat levels are elevated.

The Department of Homeland Security and the American Red Cross have compiled useful suggestions intended to inform citizens, individuals, families, neighborhoods, businesses and schools of appropriate actions to take when the threat level announced by the Department of Homeland Security changes. These documents define each level of threat and list actions to take that are specific to both the threat level and the intended audience.

School Resources

Families trust schools to keep their children safe during the day.  During a crisis, whether natural or man made, teachers must know how to help their students through the crisis and return them home safely.  In a document entitled Practical Information on Crisis Planning: A Guide for Schools and Communities gives schools, districts, and communities the critical concepts and components of good crisis planning and provides examples of best practices.

ASIS Resources

ASIS International (ASIS) is the preeminent organization for security professionals with more than 33,000 members worldwide. ASIS strives to increase the effectiveness and productivity of security professionals by making available security management best practices such as general security risk assessment to businesses, government entities and the public.  The resources are designed to prepare chief security officers with critical leadership information including selection and training of security officers. ASIS gives additional guidelines for disaster preparation and for securing houses of worship.  ASIS also provides information from the United States Department of Homeland Security concerning security measures at various threat levels. 

Ready.gov Resources

Ready.gov provides an easy-to-follow, illustrated step-by-step guide for how to respond to various threats such as explosions, chemical, biological and nuclear attacks. It is a useful guide for both the workplace as well as the home.

ADL Resources

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) provides information on keeping your jewish institution safe, and what do do with a suspicious letter or package.  For additional information, contact your local ADL office.

JINSA Resources

The Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA) is a non-profit, non-partisan educational organization committed to explaining the need for a prudent national security policy for the United States, addressing the security requirements of both the United States and the State of Israel, and strengthening the strategic cooperative relationship between these two great democracies.  The JINSA website provides terrorism information, analysis and news as well as events, publications and notices
